Kristen Reece, Labor Doula
“The moment a child is born, the mother is also born. She never existed before. The woman existed, but the mother, never. A mother is something absolutely new.” -Rajneesh
My journey into birth work began in April of 2015 when I was privileged to attend my friend’s home birth. After witnessing the birth of her baby boy, I knew I was called to work in the birth world. I started as a birth doula, and I have since become a Certified Lactation Counselor, midwife assistant, and currently working toward my bereavement doula certification. I have attended many variations of birth, such as medicated and unmedicated, vaginal and cesarean, hospital and home births, VBAC, induction, multiples, and waterbirth. I believe women’s bodies are fearfully and wonderfully made and totally capable of birthing their babies. It is my honor to walk the journey from pregnancy to motherhood with each and every mother I’m able to serve.
At my home in Dallas, I am married to the most amazing man and mother to our two sweet sons. Both of my boys were born at home, so fellow home birth mamas hold a special place in my heart. I love all things breastfeeding, babywearing, cloth diapering/ECing, real food, outdoors, NFP/FAM, and all things crunchy. I graduated from Kennesaw State University with a Bachelor’s in Integrative Studies with concentrations in health and Spanish, and I have spent considerable time abroad both for mission trips and studying internationally for my degree.
I would love to schedule a consultation with you to discuss your vision for your birth!
