Elizabeth Whittington Cooper, Labor Doula
“There is power that comes to women when they give birth. They don’t ask for it, it simply invades them. Accumulates like clouds on the horizon and passes through, carrying the child with it.”
– Sheryl Feldman
My journey to becoming a doula came long before I even knew the definition of the word. Watching my goddaughter come into this world was one of the most extraordinary things I have ever seen. A few years later, my sister would be the one to explain to me what a doula was and thus began my official journey to becoming a doula. I am thrilled about the opportunity to help support women in one of their most amazing life changing experiences.
I received my training through DONA International and waiting to have my certification approved. I started working with Labor of Love in the beginning 2015. I knew when I started working with Labor of Love that this would be like home. The ability to help women achieve the type of birth experience they want is truly an honor that I feel Labor of Love embraces.
I am the mom to boy/girl twins that I birthed naturally with the help of one of our doulas and lots of Labor of Love classes. I am also the “Bah” to my adopted 3-year old daughter that I am helping to raise. I currently live in the Lithonia/Stone Mountain Area. Becoming a mom has been my greatest joy, and I love helping other mom’s get to experience that joy. I can’t wait to help you with your journey and feel privileged to be chosen as your labor doula. In my free time, I am also a professor, which means you get a very well educated doula if that counts. ; )!
